What does it mean to go above and beyond?

Doing more and pushing yourself further than anyone else is willing to. Challenging yourself to do more than the average, than the mediocre. Above and beyond makes you different. Above and beyond makes you stand out. It has never been easier to be different. All it takes is the willingness to go above and beyond.

Above and beyond measures your willingness to do more than is asked, expected, and required of you at all times.

There are levels to the work you do and the results that you get.

• Doing less than is expected of you, doing less than is required of you, safe to say, that isn’t where anyone wants to be. Sad to say, that is where more and more people are beginning to find themselves.

• Doing just the bare minimum, just enough to get by. You meet the basic requirements, you can say you got the job done, but just getting the job done keeps you in the group of the average and mediocre.

• Doing a little bit more than is expected of you. You do your part, you meet your requirements, and every once and a while you do something that wasn’t required, that wasn’t asked for, but it isn’t all the time. So, while it is still better than many, it still won’t put you on the same level as the best.

• You know this one, that’s right, ABOVE and BEYOND. That is all you know, doing the basic requirements is just the starting point to position yourself to go above and beyond. You are the one who moves the needle, tilts the scales, and pushes everything forward in your favor.

The only question you need to be able to answer for yourself is: are you willing to live with results that will come from the level that you are currently giving?

If you are tired of sitting at the bottom because you can’t meet the basic requirements, will you change? Will you start doing more?

If you are okay just doing the minimum, getting by, so be it, that is on you. Just understand that you will never reach the potential that is within you.

If you are willing to go the extra mile every time, to just go above and beyond to stand out, to be impressive, at some point you will stumble upon everything you have ever wanted and more.

Stand out today. When you think you have done enough, do more. Go above and beyond.
